Our History

Historical highlights for Women with Latitude include:

  • Being state finalists in the inaugural ABC Classic FM Choir of the Year competition
  • Twice guest performers at the Bundaleer Forest Music Festival
  • The reputation of having several sell-out Adelaide Fringe performances in 2013, 2014 and 2015
  • Backing Dr G Yunupingu to a sell-out crowd in his Gospel Songs Tour at the Festival Theatre in August 2015
  • Recording a theme song for Girl Asleep, the South Australian coming-of-age comic drama by Windmill Theatre Co Director Rosemary Myers which continues to achieve remarkable success with award wins, sell-out screenings and critical acclaim around the world, making it one of the most successful Australian films in 2016.
  • Featuring in the first night of The Events, a State Theatre Company production in 2017.

In the first 14 years, Women with Latitude held weekly rehearsals at St Theodore’s Anglican Church in Toorak Gardens. It was a wonderful venue that was big enough to hold performances for family and friends but it was not uncommon to see blankets, hot water bottles, woollen scarves and gloves and many layers during the winter months.

In 2013, the group moved to the Church of the Trinity in Clarence Gardens and are thoroughly enjoying the more comfortable seasonal conditions and true acoustics. An added bonus is that Church of the Trinity is a tremendous venue for concerts.
